Waterfront dreaming: Il Sereno opens at Lake Como
Natural idyllic setting
Il Sereno, the newest luxury travel destination at Lake Como, has officially opened its doors. Located on the Eastern section, the hotel offers stunning views of the lake as well as the surrounding Italian alps and is within easy access to the many small charming towns.
Designed by celebrated Milan-based designer Patricia Urquiola – 2015 Wallpaper Designer of The Year – the contemporary structure stands out amidst the more classical buildings that dot the area. Nevertheless, with clever use of natural materials including wood, stone, wools and other fabrics, and together with famed French botanist Patrick Blanc who has created stunning vertical gardens, the hotel still manages to showcase the beauty of its surroundings.
Around the hotel, a private beach awaits while a 60 foot infinity pool, with its water flowing straight into the lake, offers a more modern relaxation spot. Elsewhere, a fully-serviced spa is available or if you prefer to spend some private time in any of the 30 suites, all of them feature floor to ceiling windows for optimal views.
In terms of culinary options, Il Sereno boasts a restaurant by renowned restaurateur Giuliano Lotto, which will serve Northern Italian Brasserie cuisine, with a menu inspired by the local fare and created from seasonal and local produce.
