Sustainability isn't just a buzz word in the fashion world right now, it's hitting the travel and hospitality industry with gusto. First Leonardo DiCaprio announced his eco report and now the Starwood Hotel Group announces plans to roll out a number of eco friendly resorts under the new brand – '1'...

The Starwood Hotel Group is laying a green footprint down with its new environmentally friendly hospitality brand – '1.' The hotel aims to maintain the highest level of luxury and comfort whilst employing environmentally conscious practices.

All of the architectural and interior materials are to be sourced from sustainable sources, and create the smallest possible carbon footprint. Further more, 1% of the hotel's profits will be ploughed back into local environmental initiatives, to help preserve each hotel's natural surroundings.

The concept has already successfully launched in Miami with a 426 room resort, 1 Hotels & Homes South Beach. Further plans are in process for hotels in Manhattan and Brooklyn with upcoming hotels in Washington, Paris and Los Angeles. We applaud the eco friendly efforts and look forward to seeing more of the same...
