Melbourne introduces urban glamping with St. Jerome's: The Hotel
The roof top glamp-site
We've heard of glamping (glamorous camping,) often the only palatable option for a music festival or a way to experience the great outdoors but still sleep on a soft comfortable mattress cloaked in 800 thread-count sheets. But Australian entrepreneur, Jerome Borazio, has taken the concept to an entirely new level, a roof top to be precise. His venture: St. Jerome's: The Hotel, combines the fun and adventure of camping with all the luxury facilities of a five star hotel, but with a distinctively urban twist. This glamp-site is situated on the roof on Melbourne Central.
Visitors can check into this al fresco accommodation and enjoy the freedom of not having four walls and a roof encasing them, whilst enjoying stunning views of the city, they also have access to 24-hour concierge service and a bar. The more out-doorsy additions include free tai chi and meditation classes in the morning and breakfast hampers.
The teepee style tents all feature proper beds (complete with beautiful linens) and heating so that weather is not a concern, and come in two sizes, luxe (4m tents) and luxe plus (5m tents.) Rates start at AU$330 per night. Urban glamping is the newest must on our travel to-do list.
