Buro 24/7 uncovers a cool concept in cruising, with the novel Aqua Expeditions riverboat rides

Buro 24/7 likes to bring you the best in novel sailing concepts, and so it's only right the idea behind Aqua Expeditions is shared. With a dream to bring the adventure of a great African safari to the Amazon River – along with the highest standards for safety and with the most experienced naturalist guides – former Galapagos Islands tours salesman Francesco Galli Zugaro has launched a thoroughly unique river cruiseship concept.

It started in 2008 with a boat of just twelve luxurious cabins designed by Jordi Puig, one of Peru's top interior designers and the Amazon-influenced cuisine of Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino. Their intention was then, and remains, to always ensure that Aqua Expeditions guests enjoy an "eye-level" and highly visual river cruise experience amidst the pleasures of a five-star boutique hotel.

Demand for the company's Peruvian cruises almost immediately exceeded supply until three years ago, Aqua Expeditions expanded its cruise capacity with the launch of a second cruiseship, the 16-cabin Aria Amazon – delivering the same rather exceptional guest journey in a fascinating year-round destination in Africa.
