Hello Kitty celebrates its 40th birthday with Eva Air
Flight of the feline
On Wednesday, the Taiwanese airline announced that it will start flying its Hello Kitty-themed 'Hand-in-Hand' jet between Taipei and Paris next month, honouring the famous cartoon's 40th anniversary.
The colorful jet features a variety of Sanrio characters holding hands the entire length of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which has already been flying three flights a week between Taipei and Los Angeles since 2013.
Onboard even the meal trays are customised to match the cute kitty theme, with Hello Kitty burgers, vegetables and desserts in the shape of the animated icon's face. Flight attendants also wear special pink uniforms.
According to Eva Air, the designs are intended to "make flying fun and spread happiness among passengers all over the globe".
