Hayman Island: The DvF Penthouse
Divine designs in Australia
The Diane von Furstenberg Penthouse suite on Hayman Island is a designer oasis draped in luxury amenities, flowing in style and sophistication. It soon became a member of The Leading Hotels of the World after opening last year on Australia's number one luxury nature-resort destination island, located on the north of the Whitsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Queensland. After an extended vacation on the island, von Furstenberg "fell in love with the five star private island resort" and decided to add her own personal touch.
Every piece of furniture, and indeed the decor details, has been designed and built by a team from the brand, to order. Animal prints decorated the carpets, curtains, towels, chairs and pillows – and the sofas covered in a textured DvF fabric.
The penthouse – with its two bedrooms and bathrooms and a spacious living room – looks like a tropical house; wood, wicker furniture and bright accents open on to the crystal-clear waters and sandy beaches of Hayman Beach below.
There's room for a total of four guests, at a cost of $5,000 per night, including an hourly butler service.
