Anantara to open region's highest luxury resort
Height of luxury
Luxury hotel group Anantara will launch Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Oman, which is set to be the Middle East's highest luxury destination. Located on what is known as 'the green mountain', and spectacularly set on a cliff's edge, the resort will offer breathtaking views that have captured the imaginations of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
Given the resort's location, the Oman experience begins from the airport in Muscat where a two-hour drive will bring you through some of the Sultanate's most popular features including forts and wadis. Once at the resort, check into one of the luxurious rooms or villas, each with its own Omani touch of luxury, from the locally made furniture to fragrances indigenous to the region. While each room includes a terrace, each villa comes with its own infinity-pool that either overlooks the mountainside or faces a lush garden oasis.
Those seeking a culinary experience will not be disappointed as the resort includes two unique packages: Spice Spoons and Dining by Design. Spice Spoons allows guests to accompany the chef to the market before being given an insight on how to create classical Omani cuisine. Dining by Design on the other hand affords guests to dine on a stunning cliff-edge platform built on the same spot where the late Princess Diana stood during her royal visit.
Other services and amenities within the self-sustained compound include a world-class gymnasium, a tennis court and the award-winning Anantara Spa. For a more local adventure, the resort also offers guided site visits to the UNESCO World Heritage site Birkat al Mouz as well as the ancient city of Nizwa, known as the 'Pearl of Islam'.
Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort will open in July 2016. For reservations, visit jabal-akhdar.anantara.com.
