A new beacon of luxury arrives on the Nile

Luxury living
The St. Regis Cairo makes a powerful statement as a new reflection of Egypt’s rich history…

When booking a ticket to Egypt’s capital, you know you’re in for the ultimate experience at the holy city of Cairo. A pure distinction of rich history, ancient traditions and impressive views, the city is home to some of the world’s greatest wonders including the pyramids, the Nile River and a plethora of hidden treasures.

BURO. Middle East had the chance to recently visit the city, where we checked into St. Regis’ highly anticipated (and long-awaited) launch of its new emblem of luxury. Enter St. Regis Cairo. Beautifully situated over the banks of the River Nile in the heart of Cairo, the towering hotel embodies the grandeur and opulence of the St. Regis brand, alongside the bustling contemporary lifestyle of Egypt’s dynamic capital.

Just a 45-minute drive away from the city’s airport, St. Regis Cairo weaves a powerful new story of luxury – overlooking the city’s unprecedented local heritage and stunning views courtesy of the Nile and Old Cairo. Upon entering this gem situated in the heart of Egypt’s timeless metropolis, you’re immersed in a world of opulence. Courtesy of architect Michael Graves’ creative eye, the balance of tradition and modernity is echoed through dark mahogany woods, plenty of light, rich textures and an overall Egyptian aura with distinct gold and brass designs revealed throughout.

An example of a dramatic Egyptian aesthetic with modern execution is the Water Garden, beautifully situated at the Lobby Lounge where visitors can socialise over the signature Afternoon Tea or the Evening Ritual (the beloved tradition of champagne sabering), before heading to the St. Regis Bar for delectable bites and signature cocktails. The bar is also home to a mural entitled “The Pink Sun” referencing ancient Egypt and the birth of modern civilization.

The St. Regis Cairo is truly a connected address in the heart of downtown as it offers on-site experiences that are the ultimate escape. For example, the Iridium Spa is a state-of-the-art facility spanning two floors, offering the finest Eastern and Western traditions enhanced with a unique interior design (think curved glass and marble staircases) featuring 8 luxury treatment suites, hydrotherapy and singular spa facilities spanning across two floors. In addition to the sauna, steam, and ice rooms, a shock shower, and vitality pools, there’s an indoor and outdoor pool, and a fully-equipped athletic club.

And what is a St. Regis hotel if you can’t live exquisitely? The 36-storied hotel offers 362 lavishly appointed rooms – which are made up of guestrooms, suites and upscale apartments – each boasting comfort and luxury. All details are thought of to perfect your stay, whether from choosing your own pillow from the pillow menu or getting pampered with the hotel’s complimentary St. Regis Butler Service throughout your stay.

When St. Regis Cairo opened its doors, it truly made a bold statement as a new reflection of Egypt’s rich history. It redefined Egyptian hospitality and luxury and certainly raised the bar in what the capital had to offer. That’s perhaps why the St. Regis brand opened not one, but two, new hotels. The second is located in the heart of the new administrative capital.
