So, we might be getting an Amazon Middle East

Amazon.ae?
Online shopping just got a whole lot spicier. Because Amazon Middle East might be happening...

Online shopping in the region makes life oh-so-easy. The convenience (and thrill) of getting things in double-quick time from the likes of Dubai-based Ounass, Noon and Souq is literally like the gift that keeps giving.

So now that we’ve come to know Amazon might be getting its own Middle East base, we were like, um YES choices choices.

But first, let’s backtrack a bit. Here’s what you need to know…

– Souq.com was bought out by Amazon for Dhs2.1 billion (USD$580 million) in 2017.

– But now Amazon has recently been contacting large North American wholesalers to inform them about a “groundbreaking” opportunity according to Gulf News

– If this goes in the direction we think it is, we should expect a new e-commerce site to launch first in the UAE and later in Saudi Arabia.

– And we’re going to get an expanded selection of products for this new base of Amazon buyers.

So you may want to hold fire on signing up elsewhere if Amazon’s new regional site lands sometime soon. That’s all we know so far, but we’ll keep you posted.
