The new WattUp WiFi wireless charger
Power without wires
This week in the tech world, startup company Energous unveiled its latest developing technology called WattUp – allowing you to charge smartphones, tablets, and other small gadgets from across a room without any wires.
The WattUp charging transmitter is similar to a wireless router, sending radio frequency signals that are received by enabled mobile devices. The receiver case and charging dock can be charged up to almost 5 metres away from the WiFi router, while charging more than one device at a time.
The company expects the first products using its wireless technology to be presented by partner companies at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next January, and are set to go on sale later in the year.
