The Snapchat app lawsuit
Who came up with it first?
Snapchat, the fun photo-sharing app, has filed a temporary restraining order against Reggie Brown – a claimed 'ousted co-founder' of the extremely popular app. Brown is a former classmate of Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegel and insists that the app was his idea. Brown sued Snapchat back in February and they have been in an ongoing battle ever since.
The restraining order was filed this Friday claiming that Brown has been leaking confidential information to the media – deposition videos were leaked by Business Insider last month showing Spiegel admitting that Brown came up with the idea for the photo sharing app and openly claims that Brown "may deserve something for some of his contributions."
"Snapchat will suffer great or irreparable injury if plaintiff is permitted to disclose Snapchat's confidential information to the public," the order says. "A temporary restraining order is therefore necessary."
Brown has a lot to lose if he is indeed shunned out of the Snapchat family – Facebook reportedly made an offer to buy out the app last month for a whopping $4 billion, which the company turned down.
