Sony to launch Google Glass rival
Launching next Spring
Sony have revealed its new wearable product set to compete with Google Glass. Referred to by the company as the 'SmartEyeGlass prototype' (for now at least), the wearable shares many of Google Glass' technology, as well as a 3-megapixel camera, accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, and ambient light sensor.
Sony seem to have noted the issues that Google Glass users are facing – such as where information is projected in the user's vision, which is being compared to using a rear-view mirror while driving, and are aiming to ensure that their product is better. Instead of using a prism positioned above the eye like Google, Sony's wearable has lenses that are 85% transparent and use clever hologram optic technology – therefore eliminating the danger and discomfort issues that some Google Glass users have complained of.
The Japanese tech company aims to have its Google Glass rival on the market by March 2015.
