Portable power: The new paper-thin solar power charger
Staying connected on the go is easier than ever, but when your link to the office, home or the world at large is cut off due to drained batteries, it can be challenging getting the juice you need. However, hunting down power outlets or carrying cumbersome reserve power may be a thing of the past soon, thanks to electronics company Yolk.
A successful Kickstarter fund will see that the super-thin portable solar panel – Solar Paper – will hit production next month. With a target of $50,000 goal to start production, the popular power gadget has already raised $482,220, with pledges equalling orders.
The clever solar powered pack is uber portable, measuring just 0.15 inches thick, 7.5 inches long, and 3.5 inches wide, the device is available in 5 watt, 7.5 watt and 10 watt, with 2, 3 or 4 panels, respectively. It is capable of charging an iPhone 6 in two hours. And because the solar panel connects to your devices via USB, it's also capable of charging GoPros, Bluetooth speakers, and more, which is probably a good thing as Apple might be rolling out its own built-in solar power in the future, find out more on that here.
