Radiohead update its PolyFauna app with new music and visuals

A modern wave of sound and motion

Even though Radiohead fans will have to wait a little longer for a new studio album, the band in the meantime has rebooted its smartphone PolyFauna app with new atmospheric music and unique visual landscapes

First reported in February by Buro 24/7 Middle East, Radiohead's PolyFauna app was inspired by recording sessions from Radiohead's 2011 album, The King of Limbs, particularly the band's lead track Bloom, according to lead singer Thom Yorke.

Now, fast forward 8 months, and Radiohead has been hinting of the app's September 1 update when Yorke began tweeting a series of drawings and mystical images. The sketches were created by Yorke, producer Nigel Godrich, Radiohead artist Stanley Donwood and digital arts studio Universal Imagery.

The artistic PolyFauna app allows users to move through Radiohead's abstract landscapes by just moving and touching the screen of the smartphone, with the update – available on iOS and Andriod – arriving as Radiohead prepares to record its ninth studio album.
