Pinterest to launch paid advertisements
Expected to arrive next quarter
Joining its peers, Pinterest is set to launch paid ads similar to those that feature on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The popular site which launched back in 2010 and now has over 70 million users is expected to allow promoted 'pins' during the second quarter of this year.
The paid pins will look exactly like pins from users, but will include a notification which details "promoted pin" along the bottom. The likes of TRESemmé and the Four Seasons hotel group were amongst the first to have tested promoted pins on Pinterest so far and it is reported that advertisers will have the option of paying via cost-per-thousand impressions or cost per click.
