Rumours circulate that the iPhone 6 will have 10-megapixel camera
Alongside an improved filter
Chinese website IT168 has reported that sources within the supply chain in Taiwan are claiming that the "next generation iPhone" will come with a 10-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.8, as well as an improved filter.
A new filter fashioned from transparent resin will be made by Japanese resin manufacturer JSR. The company's Arton resin, which is already used on digital and video cameras with CMOS sensors, is used to make filters lighter and thinner than IR filters.
It was previously reported that the iPhone 6 would have the same camera as the iPhone 5s - but with Apple's competitors launching devices with more powerful cameras, it seems unlikely that the technology giant would ignore an opportunity to compete.
