Instagram launches Bolt messaging app
Users in Singapore, South Africa and New Zealand – the only countries where Bolt is currently available – can sign up for the new app using their mobile phone numbers, with no pre-requirement for a Facebook or Instagram account. Much like Snapchat, Bolt allows users to send their friends list short share picture messages or videos before they disappear, never to be seen again.
Bolt does possess a new feature that Snapchat does not – the 'shake to unsend' option, which allows users to shake their phone in the first few seconds of sending a picture or video in order to retract it.
The app is expected to become available in more countries and regions including the Middle East in the coming weeks.
