Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt's predictions for 2014
It's all about mobile
A new year is upon us, and although 2013 was huge on technological advances and social trends - we have faith that 2014 will be even more exciting and revolutionary. Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt recently interviewed with Bloomberg TV to discuss 2014 trends - with only one word in mind, Mobile. "The trend has been that mobile was winning. It's now won," he said in the interview, "there are more tablets and phones being sold than personal computers. People are moving to this new architecture very fast." He has reason to believe that we are going to see an even bigger boom in applications this year than we have in 2013.
Although we believe Schmidt is among the few people who knows technology best, he did miss out on a huge trend last year: social media. He recently explained, "At Google, the biggest mistake I made was not anticipating the rise of the social networking phenomenon- not a mistake we're going to make again. I guess in our defense we were busy working on many other things, but we should have been in that area and I take responsibility for that."
