Google's new Android system for cars
Keeping safety in mind
According to its makers, 'Android Auto' was designed entirely with simple and safe usage in mind, with the system being displayed on large interactive screens embedded into cars. The idea was conceived in order to remove any desire for motorists to use their smartphones while driving, yet still offering the opportunity to access phone-like preferences without having any distractions.
The system will feature conversational voice command services to minimise physical interactions, and all reminders and plans made verbally within the vehicle will be synced with other devices in order for users to access them outside of the car. Google has also announced that it will create a unique Software Development Kit in order to allow the developers to build specific applications for vehicles.
The Android Auto operating system will be released by the end of 2014.
