All that glitters...

Apple is said to be launching its new range of iPads with a gold colourway addition – in an attempt to boost sales

The glistening new offering is said to belong to the iPad Air 2 family. Sources say that the introduction of the gold hue is a direct attempt by Apple to boost its iPad sales, which dipped slightly last year – with Apple CEO Tim Cook even recently comparing this drop to "speed bump."

The rumoured gold device is said to feature the Touch ID Home button, an anti-reflective display and an improved processor, and is reportedly a 9.7-inch iPad Air 2.

Aside from the new glitzy colourway, Apple is said to be launching the second-generation iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini with a 7.9-inch and Retina Display on October 21.

The tech giant is no stranger to using coloured devices to boost its sales and audience range – in 1999 Apple debuted candy-coloured iMacs, in 2013 it also launched the lower end iPhone 5c in a variety of bright colours.

Apple is said to be hosting an event this month to debut its new iPad products.
