Goodwood Races unveils 10-year partnership with Qatar
Claimed to be the single biggest deal in British racing
The new partnership with the Arab country will see Goodwood recieve more than £2 million invested in eight key races at the England track while the July 28-August 1 Glorious Goodwood event is to become the Qatar Goodwood Festival, with a total prize money of £4.5 million.
"Goodwood has, for more than 200 years, been about the best racing in the most English of settings, accessible to everyone," racecourse owner Lord March told Goodwood.com on Monday.
Other prestigious races to benefit from the new deal include the Qatar Sussex Stakes, with a prize fund of £1 million, and the £600,000 Qatar Nassau Stakes. Champion trainer Richard Hannon, also showed his excitement on the new partnership, stating, "This new Qatari sponsorship is absolutely fantastic news for British horseracing, and in particular Goodwood."
