First look: Polo Ralph Lauren's record-breaking Olympic uniform
Time to light it up
Polo Ralph Lauren has unveiled its exclusive Flag Bearer Jacket for the upcoming Rio Olympics. To further emphasise the honour of leading Team USA out on the opening day, the fashion brand incorporated technology into the jacket, using electroluminescent panels to light up the word "USA" on the back of the jacket, masterfully showcasing the maison's expert tailoring.
"The Flag Bearer Jacket will literally light the way for Team USA as they represent our country in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games," said David Lauren, Executive Vice President, Global Advertising, Marketing & Communications at Ralph Lauren. "This groundbreaking jacket exemplifies Ralph Lauren's continued exploration of the intersection of fashion and technology. For an athlete, being chosen as the flag bearer for Team USA is an extraordinary honour, and we wanted to pay tribute to that position. Ralph Lauren is incredibly proud to dress America's best and brightest athletes at the world's premier sporting event."

Meanwhile, the rest of Team USA will be decked in a classic combination of striped t-shirts with blazers featuring the national colours: red, white and blue. Completing the look for the opening ceremony are white denim jeans, boat shoes as well as navy belts.
Ralph Lauren also recently designed the uniforms at Wilbledon. However, the opening ceremony at the 2016 Olympics, which will be held on August 5 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will be Lauren's latest official designs.
