The British Polo Day Series: Abu Dhabi
Held at Abu Dhabi’s Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club
Ghantoot Polo Team triumphed to victory against the British Exiles in the main event at the British Polo Day 2014 Series which kicked off in Abu Dhabi yesterday. Held at Abu Dhabi's Ghantoot Racing & Polo Club - the private royal club of His Highness Sheikh Falah Bin Zayed al Nahyan - the Ghantoot Polo Team hosts defeated the visiting team 8-6. Tom Hudson, British Polo Day co-founder revealed, "It was the best of British against the best of the UAE. It kick starts the 2014 series perfectly."
The day began with the Hackett Camel Polo Cup, featuring members of the elite Cavalry & Guards regiments of the British Army. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Cavalry team clinched a close victory over the Guards with a 3 - 1 win, with the final two goals scored by Hudson.
The series will take place at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club - the birthplace of British Polo Day and the setting for the first event in 2009 - on March 28. Dominic Jermey, Her Majesty's Ambassador to the UAE commented: "The British Polo Day Series is the only global polo network of its kind. British Polo Day is celebrated in more than 10 different countries and, as UK Ambassador to the UAE, I am proud that the UAE is among these - the only such country in the Middle East".
