Brazil World Cup commentators revealed to based in Doha

BeIN Sport, BeIN Qatar!

As the World Cup 2014 games continue, many of the commentators are bellowing their observations from a studio in Qatar’s capital city of Doha, which is 7,000 miles away from the live action

The number 1 regional sports broadcaster, BeIN Sport, have been showing the matches in real time, featuring commentary from a panel that includes Richard Keys and Andy Gray. This week reports have surfaced that some of the English commentators, including leading personnel Matthew Spiro and David Pleat, are actually in studios located in Doha rather than pitch-side in Brazil.

During games such as England v Uruguay and Germany v USA, both Spiro and Pleat made indications that they were in fact in Brazil, referring to the crowd, the weather conditions, traffic issues, and even a tweet from Spiro saying, "feel privileged to having commentated on last night's Dutch masterclass," indicating the Holland v Spain match. Yet Spiro uploaded a picture of a pool setting on Twitter, depicting a scene that exactly resembles the Courtyard by Marriott in Doha City Centre – igniting media reports that the duo and colleagues are actually commentating from Qatar, and not Brazil.

No official statements have been given against or for the rumour as of yet.
