The world's most expensive Christmas card featuring rubies and 23k gold
Made from rare calfskin and adorned with precious stones, this Christmas card will definitely not be one to throw away. The special card is the creation of Florida and New Jersey-based card maker Gilded Age Greetings, with the world's most expensive Christmas card taking over a month to create and coming at a $5,000 price tag.
The hand-crafted card features an opulent design painted in 23 karat gold on calfskin vellum (a type of medieval parchment that's used on upholstery and furniture) imported from Germany. A special edition, the Grand Couture collection is set with dazzling stones – precious and semi-precious from amethyst and emeralds, to rubies, diamonds, green and red garnets.
Each card comes in a specially made silk box that consists of documentation including the title for the card, and a list of stones and materials used. The documents are even signed by the artist, with the company also offering the option to have your signature inscribed by their master penmen.
