WhatsApp now lets users make free voice phone calls
With the new app update
The Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp has unveiled a new update for its 2.12.1 version – offering its users the ability to make free voice phone calls to friends and family. When users update the app on their iPhones this week, they will be granted the ability to call "friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they're in another country."
The service will be available to WhatsApp impressive database of 800 million users across the globe and some experts predict that the social media giant will follow this update with a new launch of video calls similar to the popular SnapChat platform in the coming months too.
Other features of the new 2.12.1 WhatsApp version include sharing photos, videos and links direct from other apps, a quick camera button in chats that helps users to share files instantly, the ability to edit contacts whilst in the app, to send multiple videos and once and to crop, rotate and edit videos before sending them.
