In support of its delivery drones bid, the UAE has launched an international contest offering a $1,000,000 prize

As earlier reported on Buro 24/7 Middle East, two prototype delivery drones were unveiled at the Government Summit on Monday.

In support of its bid to launch delivery drones, the UAE has announced an international contest with a prize offering of $1,000,000.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and chairman of the Higher Committee for Mobile Government, revealed that companies, universities, and specialised professionals, will all be welcomed to enter the competition.

"HH Sheikh Mohammed's goal is for the UAE to be the smartest and most effective government in the world. We are committed to constant innovation in government services because ultimately this is the surest way to improve quality of life for all citizens, residents and visitors," Al Gergawi said.

The contest will be managed by a team of specialists and government officials, who will assess each innovation and determine what will add value to its services.

Details for the contest will be unveiled soon, and the winner will be announced in February 2015.
