Toms shoes to expand into coffee business

The man who built his empire on selling one pair of inexpensive shoes and giving another pair away to a person in need, is now venturing out into the world of coffee.
This week, company owner, Blake Mycoskie revealed his new beverage brand called Toms Roasting Co. at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
The concept is part of the firms One-For-One movement, in which Toms gives away a product for each one it sells. With the first Toms Roasting Co. cafe now open in Austin, the company aims to launch more coffee houses which will give away clean water for every cup or bag of coffee it sells.
“Once people get over the initial shock when they hear we’re going into the coffee business, I think they’ll see that Toms and the one-to-one model is a platform for doing a variety of things, not just a shoe or eyeglasses company,” Mycoskie said.
