Time Magazine has unveiled their fourth annual ‘word banishment poll’ online, asking readers to shed some light on what they thing is the most hated and/or overused word of 2014

"Bae", "turnt" and "yaaasssss", are just a few of this years offenders on Time's 'word banishment poll', however, the American magazine has also now also included the word "feminist", taking the media by surprise, wondering why the word was put on the list.

The publication justified their placement of the word by saying, "You have nothing against feminism itself, but when did it become a thing that every celebrity had to state their position on whether this word applies to them, like some politician declaring a party?"

The author of the piece, Rebecca Steinmetz, even took to her Twitter account to defend the word of choice, "The inclusion is responding to trends in the media, not feminism itself."
