The White House State Dinner
In honour of French President François Hollande
A glamorous occasion tent was set up on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington DC last night, in preparation to host the state dinner for French President François Hollande — the first historic state visit between the two nations in nearly 20 years.
The menu and theme of the dinner was inspired by the shared history and long friendship between the United States and France. The culinary delights on the menu were created by White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford and White House Executive Pastry Chef William Yosses, using delicacies from across the United States in celebration of the best of American cuisine including Osetra caviar, dry-aged rib eye beef and Hawaiian chocolate-malted ganache.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama – wearing Carolina Herrera – and President François Hollande were joined by 350 guests including plenty of A-list celebrities such as Bradley Cooper, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stephen Colbert and Natalie Massenet, plus a musical performance by Mary J.Blige.
