Wheely big: The world's largest Ferris wheel takes shape in Dubai
The Dubai Eye
The jewel of the $1.6bn Duba Bluewaters Island project – The Dubai Eye – is taking shape as the mammoth construction task continues. Located off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), the wheel will eventually stand at 210 metres-high, stealing the world title of highest Ferris wheel from Las Vegas' High Roller.
The wheel is not just going to be bigger than any other, but also better, boasting 48 luxurious capsules that are capable of taking as many as 1,400 visitors on a turn around the 360-degree experience. Moreover, a huge 80 metre LED screen will be affixed to the wheel, with the potential to screen movies. The wheel’s structure is now in place, giving the first real sense of the sheer size of the project. For all the latest updates, stay tuned to Buro 24/7 Middle East…
