As regular Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Stefano Tonchi is helping Sofia Coppola live out one of her childhood dream as he asks her to guest edit a special edition of 'W'

The special edition of W featuring Kirsten Dunst on the cover will accompany the magazine's May issue, which will go on sale Monday, guest edited by Sofia Coppola.

"As a kid, I loved magazines. That's where I got a lot of my interest in photography and fashion," the director told a source, "I remember as a kid W being so glamorous and it being so different from my reality."

Coppola, who comes from a family of Hollywood royalty, explained that she's always wanted to try her hand at editing, as she was approached by Tonchi with the idea over the summer.

Having featured Coppola in W before, the editor said he noticed her potent "editing skills, fresh eye and enthusiasm."

"Sofia came to the office a lot. I gave her my desk a few times," he said. "She really pursued some of the stories. Some happened, some didn't." Tonchi added.

Apart from the cover story and interview with actress Kirsten Dunst, other stories in the edition include another Q&A by Coppola with Marisa Berenson in Marrakech, a story from Cornelia Guest and a feature by Paul Fortune on his design process for Marc Jacobs' media room.
