Sheikh Mohammed and Will Smith attend opening of The Beach in Dubai
Jumeirah Beach Residence's newest tourist attraction
A new 1km-long mall has been built along Jumeirah Beach Road's beach front in Dubai, and the new establishment had a private launch this week, in attendance of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Interestingly, Will Smith was also present during his second visit to Dubai this year.
The Meraas holding development, known simply as 'The Beach', is a low-rise building running from the existing Hilton Hotel to the Sheraton Hotel.
According to developers The Beach project is formed around a pedestrian walkway that meanders between four distinct plazas. It will create more than 70 new retail, food and beverage outlets.
Meraas says,"The Beach will include a dynamic mix of top brands and attractions offering everything from casual eating, signature fine dining, luxury retail and a range of attractions in the exciting entertainment zone language of the architecture transitions from the traditional luxury zone to the exciting entertainment zone at the opposite end keeping an underlying and consistent framework to ensure overall cohesion." It is the latest project in the series of plans for the JBR area in Dubai.
Last year Sheikh Mohammed approved another plan for a Meraas project – a Dhs6 billion island development off the coast of JBR, which will boast the world's tallest ferris wheel.
The Beach on Jumeirah Beach Residence will open later this month
