Sheikh Mohammed's drone competition finalists revealed

A total of 16 concepts have qualified for the semi-finals of the Drones for Good Award competition, selected from around 300 entries the winning concept will receive Dhs3.7 million

The award was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as he seeks to find practical uses for drones in everyday activities.

Among the innovative entries that have made the shortlist are drones the can be used as first aid drones that carry medical needs, drones that fly around Dubai in case of fire-related emergencies, drones to promote the UAE by allowing anyone to explore its iconic landmarks from their electronic devices, drones to monitor and inspect new construction sites and reporting drones that monitor car parks in designated areas and find car park violators.

There are two prizes available, one for Dhs 1 million for the best UAE idea and Dhs 3.7 million for the top international drone design. The semi-finalists will soon submit a short video detailing their concept, after which five finalists will be announced, with the overall winner to be announced on December 1.
