Nakheel announce Deira Islands Mall for new Waterfront City

Broadening Dubai's coastline

Deira Islands Mall, one of a host of attractions planned by Nakheel at the new coastal development, is the latest addition to Nakheel’s growing retail project portfolio

The Dubai developer will build the 620,000 square metre Deira Islands Mall within their 15.3 square kilometre waterfront establishment, in partnership with construction company RSP Architects, planners and engineers. The firm has been awarded $10.9 million (40 million AED) to carry out the project's entire design and to supervise the course of development.

The mall will consist of 200,000 square metres of rent space available for hundreds of shops, cafés and restaurants as well as a cinema, and will be a new addition to Nakheel's list of retail experiences, which currently include Dragon Mart, Ibn Battuta and Nakheel Mall.

The Deira islands development as a whole will expand Dubai's coastline by 40km, and will feature hotels, residents, and leisure facilities, all of which will be designed and engineered by US company AE7 under a AED 47 million contract.

Deira Islands Mall will be complemented by a diverse range of other attractions – all developed by Nakheel – at the new waterfront city, including a night market, hotel, amphitheatre for 30,000 people and a marina big enough to accommodate large yachts.
