A round up of the Monaco Yacht Show 2014
And its speech by Prince Albert
This year's super yacht magnet of an event began on September 24 for three days, and brought together buyers, owners and yacht enthusiasts for the 24th annual exhibition. It had more yachts than ever before and an estimated attendance of 33,000 people.
Prince Albert II of Monaco rushed back from the United Nations Climate Summit on Tuesday to deliver the show's inaugural speech, too, and nearly 115 of the world's most glamorous custom-made megayachts, ranging from 80-330 feet long, gathered at Monaco's Port Hercule. Of the yachts on display, 40 were brand new.
The others consisted of contemporary models from the last few years, along with some older classics. The 1983 Illusion, for example, and of the newer models, Admiral's three 2014 motoryachts: Nono, Flying Dragon and Entourage, all classed as show stoppers.
