A luxury private island estate in Connecticut goes on sale
In a state known for its sprawling country estates, a luxury home complete with private island has become available in Connecticut for $11 million.
Totalling three-and-a-half acres, the island was previously owned by movie producer Billy Rose when he played host to glamorous guests such as Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s.
As well as a large six-bedroom mansion, caretaker's cottage and a boat house, the island accommodates an outside pool, three beaches, and a tranquil tea house.
A protective seawall provides safe harbour for the two shore launches, meaning multiple vessels can be docked at the same time.
