The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in New Zealand this morning after landing briefly in Sydney, Australia as part of their 3 week royal tour

Today, Prince William, Duchess Kate and Britain's baby Prince George arrived at Sydney Airport where they were met by a fleet of waiting cars. The Royal Family was then whisked to the private jet base, continuing their travels on to New Zealand.

The family of three were officially welcomed to New Zealand with a formal ceremony at Government House in Wellington, a memorable start to their foreign tour that will end in Canberra on April 25.

The Duchess wore a bright red Catherine Walker coat, a Gina Foster headpiece and a silver brooch in the shape of a leaf fern, given to her by Queen Elizabeth II during her tour of New Zealand in 1953.

The royals will take Tuesday off before starting their busy program which includes visting eight locations around the country.

Highlights of the trip include a jet-boat ride down Queenstown's Shotover River, coaching young rugby players at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium, meeting other first-time parents at a Plunket parent support meeting, and visiting the Royal New Zealand Police College.
