Jean-Charles de Castelbajac designs stamps for French postal service
From Paris with love
French designer, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, is applying his creative talent to a different medium in a new stamp collection for La Poste, the French national postal service. Castelbajac, who is known for his artistry and bold creations, shares this La Poste collaborative honour with predecessors such as; Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Lanvin and Givenchy.
The stamps bear the same design hallmarks of his recent collection which involves a vibrant prime-colour palette. The designer said of his decision to accept the invitation to design the stamps: "The mysterious journey of a letter has always fascinated me... letters, cards and poems are my link to imagination in a world that's obsessed with speed. It's important to remember to spend time on essential things." Regarding the heart-shaped design, Castelbajac explained: "I wanted to send a message in primary colours – one of love and peace."
The stamps will launch in France today.
