Harrods debuts pop-up property shop for Harrods Estates

The store that has everything

The debut of Harrods Estates pop-up property shop, in store at Harrods, is causing some serious impulse buys from the store's clientele. Buro 24/7 takes a closer look at the latest development added to the elite portfolio...

Shoppers at Harrods may find themselves leaving with more than they bargained for while the in-store Harrods Estates pop-up shop is in place.

Harrods has a long established tradition of servicing its discerning customers with the epitome of luxury, and its real estate division is every bit as high-end, with a management portfolio containing meticulously curated Chelsea and Knightsbridge properties, as well as some overseas offerings. And now the masters in urban luxury, Manhattan Loft Company's latest scheme, Manhattan Loft Gardens, joins these exclusive ranks.

The new development is situated in the heart of E15's emerging east London cultural hub, dubbed 'Olympicopolis' on account of it being the former site of the London 2012 Olympic Games, not the first location association one would normally make with with South West London store. With a palatable starting price of £615,000 the apartments are not all prohibitively expensive, although they are certainly at the top end for the area. The larger the pad, the larger the price tag.

Visitors of the store are invited to sit on the plush sofa and take a virtual reality tour with a pair of pre-programmed, Oculus Rift 3D goggles. The tour will reveal the glamorous sky gardens and London-wide vistas as well as the chic and well appointed interiors of the new development (by all accounts, its a very successful tales tool.)

"We did once have a lady who came in to buy some tights and went away with an apartment,"

Harrods Estates director, Shirley Humphrey, admits that some shoppers have made some unexpected on-the-spot purchases thanks to the in-store pop-up "We did once have a lady who came in to buy some tights and went away with an apartment," She recalls another occasion, where "three Middle Eastern guys saw the shop's flags, stopped their taxi, grabbed some brochures and the next day bought eight apartments in Dubai".
