Charles Platkin – a columnist and university professor – is suing Goop for using the term “Diet Detective”, which Platkin has trademarked and writes about on his website of the same name

Platkin filed the lawsuit on August 20, after emails to Goop to request for them to stop using his trademark went unanswered. Paltrow's lifestyle site has been using the term "Diet Detective" since mid July, and Platkin claims he has been "grievously injured" by the trademark infringement.

Anne Beaumont – Paltrow's attorney from Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman has replied "no comment" to the New York Post.
