Google overtakes Apple as the world’s most valuable brand
According to a Millward Brown survey published today
Google's value has increased by 40% to $159 billion in the last year, states a survey by Millward Brown, in its 'BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands' list.
The claim follows the Internet's most successful company having placed investment in various projects such as its self-driving cars, Google Glass and countless Android partnerships, including its forthcoming line of smartwatches – endeavours that have resulted in a $15.4 billion revenue in the last financial quarter, with profits of $3.4 billion.
Unsurprisingly, technology brands dominated the top positions.
Facebook's brand value rose 68% to around $36 billion, putting it 21st in the rankings (and number 7 within the technology category), while Chinese internet portal Tencent is now worth just over $53 billion – a staggering 97% rise on last year and taking it up seven places to number 14.
