Dubai ranks among world's top ten most influential cities
The emirate surpasses Los Angeles, Beijing and Sydney
As London and New York top the prestigious Forbes list, Dubai has been ranked as number seven, backed by its position as the world's best connected city.
The magazine stated that the emirate boasts non-stop flights around three times a week to 93 percent of global cities outside of its home region. Dubai's neighbouring city and the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, which ranked joint 20th, was also on the list and is expected to rise in the near future.
To reach the final results, 58 influential cities were ranked according to different categories including the amount of foreign direct investment they have attracted, the concentration of corporate headquarters, air connectivity, strength of producer services, financial services, technology and media power and racial diversity.
Commenting on Dubai's rise, Forbes said, "Its hub location and business-friendly climate have made it a favorite for companies looking to establish a Middle East headquarters or point of presence. As a crossroads of humanity, Dubai is unparalleled among global cities for its diversity: 86 per cent of its residents are foreign born"
The top 10 included: London, New York, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai, Los Angeles, Beijing and Sydney.
