His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin announces the launch of Dubai’s ‘Expo 2020 Bureau’
A mandate to oversee preparation and delivery
The BIE, the intergovernmental organisation in charge of overseeing the organisation of World and International Expos, has today received the second of many updates required for the official registration of the first Expo to be staged in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation (DACCP) and member of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, shared an update on the newly created 'Expo 2020 Bureau', established by decree 30/2014 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

It detailed that the Expo 2020 Buerau has the mandate to oversee the preparation and delivery of the Expo, through coordinating and planning with national and international stakeholders, formalising key programming, and setting up critical governance structures.
His Excellency also presented an overview of the Expo 2020 Dubai site positioning, highlighting its strategic placement within the UAE, especially in context of Dubai World Central – the world's first purpose-built aerotropolis. It was labelled the "future economic driver of the Emirate of Dubai" by His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin.

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, the UAE's Minister of State, Managing Director of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee and Director General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, remarked: "We are pleased to continue to work closely with the BIE and to share with them our plans for the delivery of this momentous event. We are confident these plans will allow us to successfully achieve our vision and goals to produce a meaningful Expo for our country, region and global community."
