The Dubai Opera House is revealed
A new icon on the horizon
The Sydney Opera House is about to have a new rival, as Dubai is in the process of building it's very own multi-purpose opera venue.
The 2,000 seat setting is set to be complete by 2016, and will be an aspect of Dubai's Opera District, which will be situated in Downtown Dubai. The project will be a platform for theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, orchestra, film, sports events and seasonal programmes.
"It's a really challenging but exciting project, as it is in a really prime location, and we're moving in the right direction. The work has already begun and the concrete works will happen soon," said Nazih Abdul Kader, Executive VP of Operations at Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), heading the construction process of the project.
Many of Dubai's current projects are in correlation with the city's 2020 Expo, which will eventually expand it's overall infrastructure. Many of the municipal transportation routes, including the main motorways and metro systems, will undergo major expansion processes as well in preparation for the future developments.
