Dubai to break world records with NYE fireworks this evening
Starting 2014 with a bang
Tonight, Dubai will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest display of fireworks at the Palm, Jumeirah - starting off the New Year with a bang. There will be 400 firing locations, 200 pyrotechnicians and 100 computers networked to control the show that will spam over 100 km of the seafront. 400,000 fireworks will be set off, accompanied by a musical soundtrack that was specifically designed for the event. The show is set to last 6 minutes and will be visible from quite a few vantage points across Dubai.
The record currently belongs to Kuwait City for their display last November when celebrating the 50th anniversary of the country's constitution - with 77,282 fireworks that stretched over a 5km seafront.
