Dubai’s RTA is on the hunt for the best engineering and construction team to undertake the new Dubai Metro extensions. The new route 2020 project will extend the Dubai Metro red line from Nakheel Harbour Nakheel Harbour & Tower Station to the site of Expo 2020. The work is set to begin in the first part of 2016, and the short list of contenders for the job will be announced at the end of June. 

The extension was endorsed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, last month and is set to serve the anticipated thousands of visitors to the Expo 2020. The project will serve new areas of the city such as; Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estate, and the Dubai Investment Park, and the journey from Dubai Marina to the site of Expo will take a speedy 16 minutes.
