The Dubai Marina section of the new tram network saw movement for the first time last weekend, with trams being tested across the area on Friday and Saturday

The third phase of testing has now begun and the new transportation system is set for full launch in November this year, and is slated to carry 27,000 riders per day at the start of operations in 2014, aiming to rise to 66,000 per day by 2020, all along a route which extends over 14.6 km.

The service is set to run every hour, 20 hours a day starting at 5am and will feature a cyclist track alongside the majority of the line, as well as a reduced speed limit for cars on roads crossed by the tram for safety.
