Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Great Britain Island on The World, to provide marine transport to and from the man-made project

This week, the RTA and the Great Britain Island, part of Dubai's The World development, signed an agreement to provide marine transport to and from the man-made island.

Currently under development by the Q Group of companies owned by Safi Qurashi, a contract with the RTA to operate water taxis and ferries to the island has been drawn up once it's developed into a luxury resort.

Qurashi said  "exciting plans" for his island project will also be revealed soon.

According to a statement, the 20-minute cruise to the island will offer visitors a view of Dubai's picturesque shores and skyline and provide an adventurous experience for its passengers.

"The RTA has always been keen on broadening the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in a way that enhances the services delivered to the public and safeguard the interests of the two sides," said by D Yousif Mohammed Al Ali, CEO, Public Transport Agency, Roads & Transport Authority  who signed the contract with Qurashi.

Qurashi also added, "We had a plan when we bought Great Britain and it hasn't changed. We are delighted to continue work on this renowned project, and are excited about the prospect of delivering our unique vision."
