Dubai investors to buy London's Hyde Park Barracks?
London's prestigious Hyde Park Barracks, occupy some of the most sought after real estate in the British capital, and they are up for sale. According to reports, Dubai's sovereign wealth fund is the frontrunner to buy the plot. The fund has enlisted Dixon Jones architects to draw up plans for a luxury residential apartment development.
Hyde Park Barracks is currently home to the British Army's Household Cavalry and is owned by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). It is thought that whomever does win the bid to purchase the plot, will also be asked to suggest a viable alternative home for the working horses and the other Household Cavalry facilities.
No official bids have been put forward yet but fellow interested parties for the property also include; Chelsfield's Sir Stuart Lipton, a Chinese backed consortium and an Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund.
